Located just northeast of Raleigh and slightly southeast of Wake Forest, Wendell, North Carolina is a charming little country town filled with big possibilities. Here, you’ll find a Life moves a little slower in Wendell (actually pronounced “win-DELL” by the locals), but that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot going on in this little town! Just 15 minutes from Raleigh, Wendell sits right on the brink of all the endless possibilities of the Triangle, yet it enjoys a more laid-back lifestyle of small-town charm, and of course, plenty of Southern hospitality that comes along with it. Restaurants
For a delicious, farm-fresh meal, visit Farmhouse Café located in Wendell Falls. This unique restaurant is owned by Patrick Cowden and Daniel Whittaker, both award-winning chefs. They have a loaded menu that everyone in the family will enjoy. Enjoy coffee and waffles? 41 North Coffee is the place to go in downtown Wendell! They serve many flavored lattes, coffee, teas, and so much more. Gabby, owner and registered dietitian, uses many family recipes and her own culinary expertise on the menu. Check out the quiche and waffles for breakfast and the paninis and soups for lunch.
For a fun night out with friends, visit Bearded Bee Brewing Company located in downtown Wendell. They have many different types of beer to choose from and food trucks/events almost every day. They use local ingredients and support local beekeepers to ensure honey bees are kept safe. Don’t miss out on a sweet treat in downtown Wendell! Grab some ice cream and go shopping all at the Wendell General Store. This adorable shop features old-fashioned candy, North Carolina-made jams and jellies, local honey, Ashe County cheese, and over 20 glass bottled drinks to take you back in time.
Arts and Attractions
We love our farmers markets in the Triangle! If you are looking for fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables for those hot summer days, look no further than the Wendell Farmers Market. You can also find everything from local honey, handmade soaps, and jewelry from local artisans.
Other things to do in Wendell, include enjoying a round of golf at the Wendell Country Club. This 18-hole course has been known as the “best golf value in Wake County” since its opening in 1957. While you’re there, take a few practice swings at the range, or ask about joining their member-only pool. If you need to work on your golf game, schedule a time to meet with Hall of Fame Golf Coach at NC State and PGA Member, Richard Sykes.
Wendell also offers tons of community events throughout the year, like the annual Harvest Festival, the International Food Festival, Wendell Wonderland, ProTown BMX Event, Spring in the Arts, or Big Truck Day.

Wendell is home to several beautiful parks, like Wendell Park and J Ashley Wall Town Square, as well as scenic trails like the Hugh T. Moody Nature Trail. There are also numerous athletic fields and other facilities to enjoy, like a community center, disc golf course, and a K-9 corral.
Looking for more outdoor things to do? Spend time in nature at Robertson Millpond Preserve. With 85 acres to explore, you can spend the entire day hiking the trails, fishing, enjoying the historic sites, and boating.
Or, discover the cypress swamp which is home to many different species, including the screech and great horned owls, black ducks, downy woodpeckers, beavers, frogs, turtles, and fish. Make sure to bring your phone with you for Instagram-worthy pictures and videos.

Students of Wendell belong to Wake County Public Schools, the largest and one of the most acclaimed school districts in North Carolina. Schools in Wendell include Lake Myra Elementary, Carver Elementary, Wendell Elementary, Wendell Middle, and East Wake High School.
Interestingly, East Wake High has been named a Niche Standout High School by school-rater Niche.com. What does this mean, exactly? The 2019 Niche Standout High Schools list recognizes public schools working to make a difference in their community.
