Cameron Village in Raleigh, NC
Cameron Village, also known as the Village District, is a master-planned community located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
This highly desirable neighborhood was first established in the 1940s by J.W. York and B.A. Bryon.
The pair purchased 158 acres of undeveloped land in order to develop a village. According to their plans, this village would consist of a shopping center, apartments, and single-family homes.
About 10 years after the initial purchase, the pair developed the Cameron Village Shopping center, which only added to the community’s allure.
By 1950, Cameron Village had 65 stores, a movie theater, 100 professional offices, and more than 600 homes and apartments!
